He’s Formidable: Founder of Firmidable Law Firm Marketing Wins Career Advertising Award
Nathan Chapman, owner and president of Firmidable, a national marketing agency based in New Orleans that focuses exclusively on high-quality traditional and digital marketing for law firms, has been awarded the Advertising Club of New Orleans 2022 American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award.
The Silver Medal Award Program, established in 1959, recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been successful in “furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.”
This year American Advertising Federation members bestowed this honor on Nathan for being an outstanding member of the local advertising community, his volunteerism for historic preservation, particularly in New Orleans’ landmark French Quarter, and his impact on law firm marketing nationwide.
“It is an absolute honor to be recognized by my peers within The Advertising Club of New Orleans and the American Advertising Federation,” says Nathan. “At Firmidable, we strive to create messages for law firms that are distinctive, respectful and dignified, in addition to being powerful and effective. This award recognizes that we were successful in our now 30-year goal of elevating legal marketing for our attorney clients and the public. Thank you to the Firmidable team, our incredible law firm clients, and everyone who helped make this possible.”

Nathan Chapman: From Copywriter to Legal Marketing Leader
Nathan grew up with media and advertising. His family owned the local newspaper in Bastrop, La., from the Great Depression until they sold the paper in the early 1980s. Nathan earned his undergraduate degree from LSU and an MBA from Indiana University, where he was drawn to marketing.
He moved to New Orleans and began his marketing career over 35 years ago. Nathan started as a copywriter and producer for the Keating Magee Advertising Agency in the city in the 1980s.
He soon began providing freelance marketing services for a law firm while working from his French Quarter apartment. It was then that he founded Firmidable, the niche marketing agency that would propel him to change lawyer marketing nationwide.
One of his signature accomplishments under Firmidable includes producing the nation’s first television commercials for Social Security Disability law firms.
“If it wasn’t for Nathan, I wouldn’t have been in business for as long as I was,” says Gary Sells, one of Nathan’s first legal advertising clients. “Because he was always pushing the firm to grow, to advertise, and to get the type of clients that we wanted.”
Today, Firmidable creates lawyer advertising for law firms in all types of law. That includes the agency’s position as the nation’s #1 workers’ compensation law firm advertising agency.
